USIKA Fall Shiai
There will be no class on November 1st due to the USIKA fall seminar. Students will be encouraged to go to this all day event in Anderson South Carolina. The cost of the seminar is 15 dollars. If you want to go I hope that you do not mind getting up early! Van will be leaving at approximately 5am in order to get there on time. We will most likely not return until late that night, around 10pm. For more information, please get with me during class.
Sensei Oshita and Crew Come to Town...
On Saturday September 27th Sensei Oshita from the Isshinryu school across town came to work out with the adult class. On October 4th, he honored us by testing two of his students at our school. It was interesting getting to be a part of one of their belt tests. The October 4th class was a lot of fun too. We had a chance to exchange ideas and see things from a different perspective. Having another school we can work out with will benefit us greatly.

Good Guys wear black.
More Belt Tests
The tests that took place on September 27th and October 4th went very well. We promoted 7 students in all, including an instant promotion of Alisha Woodard at the end of the October 4th class. Congratulations guys!

September 13 Belt Test

Today's test went very well. I managed to hit Derek in the same spot about 40 times, so that was good...I also managed to hit Kayla with the Shinai without any grandparents attempting to lynch me. All 3 tests went even better than I had expected. It will be nice to have two more green belts and another purple belt on the floor. Congratulations guys.
Adult Class Sets Attendance Record!
Ashley, Derek and Sensei Cox were not even in attendance and yet, including the two visiting students from Sensei Oshita's Class, our total tally for the adult class included seventeen. Wow. In the picture you will see and entire row of white belts!

Guests
This Saturday we were honored to have two of Sensei Oshita's students join us for a workout. Kevin Harvey is a brown belt and Sensei Oshita's senior student. Desiree Newton is a green belt, and also one of Sensei O's top students. We had a good chance today to exchange ideas and get to know each other. I look forward to making a return visit to their dojo next week.

August 16th Test
Today's Test went very well, and all three candidates scored well over the minimum requirements. We had two yellow belt candidates (Jerry Hammond and Emily Brittain) and one Blue Belt Candidate (Will Cooper.) Congratulations to each.

Makawara Board
Sensei Cox was at it again this week with yet another surprise. We had spoken of installing a makawara board for hand training in the class, but could not get the go ahead from the church to do so. Sensei Cox bypassed that process by constucting a stand alone unit to be keep in our back room. The striking post is made of Teak wood and is covered in rope. It is an extremely nice addition to the dojo. I can't thank Sensei Cox enough for the effort he put into constructing it.
